All paintings depicted here were painted by Elizabeth Brandon and executed with Alchemist Painting Mediums.
"Painting has included some of my biggest struggles and greatest joys. Still life, landscapes and figures in the traditional manner have offered me a wonderful variety of subject matter, colors and emotions.
With each painting experience I feel an increased awareness of my subjects depth and possibilities. Painting is my passion."
Elizabeth Brandon
Biography
Elizabeth Brandon paints in a style of Poetic Realism that is inspired by the Old Masters. After graduating from the University of Georgia with an BFA, while on a summer trip with a friend, Elizabeth Brandon began painting. With intentions of a brief study in New York at the Art Student League, Brandon gradually discovered the concept of "painting the light" with Frank Mason, and extended her tutillage to 5 years, as well as studied under Robert Beverly Hale. Stowe, Vermont became her studio for landscape classes with Frank Mason during the month of June. She studied with Robert Brackman at his studio in Madison and became fascinated with painting of live models. At that moment, her studies became an intense endeavor to take advantage of all her teacher's knowledge and spend her spare time at the museums and galleries.
Since then painting trips with painter husband Joseph H. Sulkowski have included the Grand Cayman Islands, France, Italy, Ireland, Maine, and Colorado as well as her native Tennessee. Her Nashville studio is home to her still life and figure work. Brandon has raised two children, Katie and James, whom she calls her teachers of daily life and enjoyment. In her study of Yoga, the art of Asanas provides tremendous strength and practical exercises of anatomy and flexibility. In her paintings Elizabeth's uncompromising dedication to the play of light on form makes her studio pictures luminescent with subtle counterpoint of transparent shadows. Still life, portraits and landscapes reveal a spontaneous expression under her brush. Her luscious brushwork and vibrant colors suggest the very essence of a luminous experience for both artist and collector. Through her inspired brush Brandon brings a tangible magic to the familiar genre of fruits and vegetables, exponents of nature's bounty.
